Expectations for Dancers
Before auditioning, we want all students to understand the potential time commitment for the team. If you have potential conflicts with these expectations, do not worry! We completely understand that students have many different involvements, so just reach out to us over email to see if something can be worked out.
Time Commitment
Class
Members will be expected to have dance as an elective and attend daily.
Rehearsals
First semester is football season, so dancers must attend rehearsals every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 2:30-5:30 PM to rehearse for the halftime show with the marching band. During indoor season, there may be rehearsals on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 2-4 PM.
Football Games
During Fall semester, the dance team cheers on the football team from the stands and performs in the halftime show, so their attendance at games is required.
Indoor Season
After the Fall semester ends and football season is over, we transition to our Indoor Season. Dancers learn large and small group dance pieces of various styles including hip-hop, contemporary, and jazz. They perform at District MPA to receive a rating and potentially move on to the State level. 10 dancers from the team are selected to perform at All County, a performance showcasing dancers of all ages from schools around Lee County. We finish out the year will a dance recital, where dancers are given a platform to exercise creative freedom and choreograph their own pieces to be showcased.
